Brooke House & Treehouse at Olmsted Village
construction beginning 2026
Brooke House and Treehouse is an intergenerational development collaboration between 2Life Communities and the Treehouse Foundation, located in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston.
2Life is a leader in affordable senior housing empowering older adults to live with purpose and dignity. The Treehouse Foundation is re-envisioning foster care through an intergenerational community model that brings together families parenting children from foster care, young people at risk of 'aging out' of foster care, and older adults, all within an affordable housing model.
Brooke House and Treehouse will combine to provide 170 senior housing units, 15 foster-family units and 8 studio units dedicated for use by transitional-aged youths, or those aging out of foster care.
Community spaces are dispersed across both buildings to encourage movement through the spaces, and to build community through interaction.
An on-site health clinic and daycare further expand the services provided to residents and the nearby Mattapan community.
The design of each building is predicated on the strategy of minimizing travel distance to outdoor space. This is achieved by providing lush ground plane landscapes, and planted courtyards and terraces at each level of the buildings. Whether big or small, these outdoor spaces support a diversity of uses, while providing access to sunlight, fresh air and views to nature.
On-site daycare is provided in partnership with Shattuck Child Care Center
On-site clinic services are provided in partnership with Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center
Additional services for transitional-aged youths will be provided by Plummer Youth Promise
